|And this is what we call a gallery. The older works in here kinda suck, so plz do not look at them for your own sanity's sake! Otherwise, enjoy!|
Just made it back from Comic Con with Stephanie! Our original plan was to come back tomorrow morning, but neither of us felt like another night at the hotel we were staying at, so we took off a night early.
I didn't take too many pictures because I was too busy just taking everything in, but I did get a couple photos of the giant Smaug head and of the Darth Vader car! And of some of the signs people were holding up to counteract the usual crowd of Bible thumpers with their yellow signs. My favorite was the girl with her "The Night is Dark and Full of Terrors" sign. And the General Grievous one. And of course the one that said "GODZILLA SAVES".
I got a couple T-shirts, and of course some souvenirs for people I know. MissKayFoyer's boyfriend wanted me to check out some Magic: The Gathering thing that was going on, but I would've had to wait in line until midnight first to get a ticket and then wait until 7 the next morning to see if I had won it, so I said fuck that and just got him a couple packs of cards instead. Kay herself and another friend will receive figurines of the dragons from Game of Thrones. Then today I waited in line to see if I could get some exclusive LEGO mini figure of Batman, but sadly was not a winner. My friend who we met up with there did win, though, and helping him get one was really the only reason I was in line anyway.
Stars above, was it hot there. I like the heat, but even I was practically dying. Was also slightly overwhelmed by the amount of people - you could barely move around in certain areas because it was so damn crowded, even on the streets outside. Crossing the street took like ten minutes just by itself. There were a lot fewer cosplayers than I was expecting, too - I guess Anime Expo last year got my expectations too high? Most of the ones I did see were pretty epic, though, and there were quite a few Storm Troopers! And a Darth Vader who was being interviewed. And two groups of Ninja Turtles!
We didn't really bother with any of the panels, since Steph isn't too into that, and a good portion of the time we were just kind of...drooling over the figurines they had there. Was very tempted to get the Rex or Luke Skywalker figures, but they were like $170 each and so I decided to save my money. NEXT TIME, THOUGH.
Also, apparently nobody knows who Alice from Resident Evil is anymore or something, because everyone kept thinking that Steph was Lara Croft today. Eventually she stopped explaining it and was just like "Yeah sure whatever I'm from Tomb Raider". Maybe it was because she didn't wear the coat? I have no idea. I didn't cosplay as anybody. Maybe next year.
For those who are wondering, no, I wound up not bothering with the LEGO panel so I can't confirm or deny if Bionicle is coming back next year (though honestly I seriously doubt that it is anyway). The panel was going to be at about 5 PM or thereabouts, and Steph and I were both tired out from walking around for two days so we decided to leave instead.
I'm also never riding a trolley again if I can help it. I felt like a sardine, all squished up and unable to move because it was so packed. Luckily we wound up not having to ride it back from the con, since that same friend I waited in line for the Batman figure with was nice enough to drive us back to the hotel both days.
We're keeping our badges from this year because apparently you can sign up early for next year if you do, and I'm definitely going to try to get opening night. Hopefully this time Kay and Jess will be able to join us.
Anyway, I had a lot of fun but I'm glad to be back home and in my own room again. I'm also freaking exhausted right now, so I'm going to shut up and probably head to bed. Hope you all had a good weekend and that everyone else who went had a good time!
